Copy of a letter from a gentleman in the British settlement at Silver Lake, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania [manuscript], 1820 Feb. 1

An account of Clark's journey from England to Susquehanna County in October, 1819, and his evaluation of the region for settlement. Note at the conculsion of the transcription: "The above letter was copied from the original lent to the writer by Mr. John Miller - Bookseller & Publisher No. 69 Fleet Street - London, 28th November 1820." Note on flyleaf: "This manuscript letter was bound with a copy of Johnson's 'Letters from the British Settlement in Peru' when I bought it. It is in the handwriting of Jno. C. Barrell. (See my copy of Johnson's Letters.) George Dexter, Cambridge, 1875."
